I hope I'm postng this in the right forum.
I've had my 150 gallon tank for 1 month. All tests show 0 ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, 8.3 ph and 1.023 sg.
Last week I had 4 yellow tailed damsels and 3 Percula Clowns.
We went out of town for a couple of days and the house sitter (who has her own salt tank) watched everything.
When we returned we had 4 damsels and 2 clowns.
We had to be out of town again this week and now we have 4 damsels and 1 clown.
All I've read said these 2 species should be ok together.
Amy thoughts??? :help:

I think it was the clowns not the damsels, clowns should be kept in pairs or by themself. So, one of the 3 clowns may have kill/stressed to death the third clown. It's like one male and two females, one's not going to make it...
I never had a problem with keeping the two together, however, I have read they should have different body shapes. I know some damsels can be aggressive, but honestly, my last clown was more agressive than any damsel I've had.

The Ratio of good things to bad things i hear about Damsels is like 1-3 lol, it's very misleading when first getting into the saltwater hobby. They say Damsels are a good Starter fish so the common person would think they are a nice community fish, ppl somehow always fail to mention most are aggressive. I had 4 to start with and one died and i took the aggressive one back, i have a blue fin Damsel and i don't know what the other one is but they aren't very aggressive, they are buddys with my two percula clowns so i also thought they would be okay together but maybe it's the kind of Damsels you have and the times you put them in. :notsure:

I had several damsels when i first started. They suck. Evil little fish. Killed quite a few things in my tank before i finally got rid of them.

Damsels might be evil, but I think the 3rd Clown was the problem. The two Clowns that hooked-up most likely took out the odd-fish out.

I would take out the 4 yellow tails, and get three or 5 blue green chromis. mine are very docile. then get another clown, smaller then what you have now. the bigger one will become the female.

i had a bye colored black and wite damsel in my tank he had to be the most evil fish alive. he killed 40 buck worth of assorted fish. final i got so up set cause he was attacking a brand new butterfly i got and he started attacking him and nipping like no other. i finally took him out and gave him to the LFS to deal with. my advice would be to take him out before he causes any more damage
