Damsels

I would also avoid damsels. They are hardy but they are also nasty. Mine beat up on every new fish after my tank was cycled. The domino damsel seemed to be the most agressive. I would cycle with a raw shrimp rather than the damsels.

Well... yes. Most popular damsels (blues, dominos, etc) are pretty nasty and aggressive, but blue/green chromis tend to be fairly peaceful and lowkey. A nice schooling fish. I wouldnt recommend cycling with any fish that you arent planning on keeping by the way. Keep digging though.

Please don't use damsels to cycle a tank, why stress the fish and then return it, its a sad life. I have a talbot's damsel that has been a great fish, not mean, just a little territorial at first. From what I have heard it that most damsel are just mean, except for chromis, either green or blue.

Chromis are great fish. Even though they're part of the Damsel family, I don't consider them damsels. They're awesome schooling fish and are extremely docile. However, I wouldn't suggest cycling with them because they aren't as hardy as Damsels.

You can cycle a tank without using any live fish at all. Use pure ammonia or dead cocktail shrimp...cycle takes about a week and no poor little animals are hurt in the process!!!
