Danger : Chiller question

Hello all,
I have a 30 gal tank, and I am having problems with my temp it can sometimes go up to 90

I don’t want to put my new lighting system on, for I think that could be very bad for my sea life

Even though the new lighting system has built in fans I’m still worried that it may cook my fish.
(30" 130 watt fluorescent Orbit.)
Is there any other means to cool down the tank other then buying a chiller which is way too expensive for my size of tank?
and from what I understand is that the smallest one can only drop the temp by only 1*???
I also don’t want to cut a whole in my tank at this stage.
Any new and inexpensive way to cool this down?

cool down the room the tank is in and add fans so they blow over the tank.

:thinking: was thinking of that and maybe getting a small fan :thinking:
but its funny for I have reptiles too and their tanks
(even with the heating light) doesnt get as hot. Guess its all about the salt in the water.

do you have a sump or canopy that your lights sit in? if you have a sump youy can run a small fan across the top of the water to evaporate some of the water to cool it down that way, any water evaporation will lower the temp. if your interested in a chiller i have 1 that i used for my 75 but it is too small, i used it for about 4 months , i payed $130.00 for it, i'll drop it for $75.00 + shipping. just another alternative?

Well I have a glass covering for my top, and as for your offer I really thank you ; but I have a question about it : Does it dip into the tank or is it one that I have to mount into the glass?
How low does it decrease the temp, (thats is for a 30gal?)

1st of all i would remove the glass tops , theres where your trapping the heat in, as for the chiller, it's a Aqua Mediic, with heater built in, it cooled my tank only about 4* because of the amount of water. if you do have a way to run a fan i would try that, i have 542 watts over mine, with 2-4 " orion fans and the temp never goes over 81*.
