I like the amount of rock you have. The real question is do you like it. You have done the aquascape very nice and open.

Thanks for the response. I like the look of the tank. There are lots of little nooks and crannies. I plan on getting a mandarin or a rock skipping blennie to cruise around the bottom. I am concerned once I do start adding coral that the rock will take up too much space. I have never done a reef tank before just fowlr. My lighting system isas follows. High output compact fluorescent lighting system featuring one 27W SunPaq Dual Daylight and one 27W SunPaq Dual Actinic compact fluorescent lamps, and Nocturnal Blue Lunar Lights. Will I be able to do some hard corals? If so are there any limitations?? I know I am asking lots of questions but if you have any info please pass it along. Also I am looking for frags to start my mini reef. If anyone has any they are looking to get rid of. Im in Erie, PA. Thanks again

Tank looks great - I LOVE the rockwork, but two things scare me. You say the tank has only been running for a week and a half but you already have a clown in there. Are you checking water parameters - has the tank cycled? If not, that clown is going to suffer and you're going to lose him. Also, it's not advisable to keep a mandarin in a new tank, let alone a 12 gallon one. They need tons of established rock work to live off of and will starve to death if they don't have it.
Good luck with the tank and welcome to the boards!

welcome!!
I have the 12 gal aquapod too!! I LOVE IT!! I've had it for 3 years.
Your rock work looks really cool. Not sure if it touches the glass, but if it does you might want to move it. ALgae will build up there. I can't stand anything on my glass. I want a clean view all the way around.
If you don't already have one, pick up a mag float. they are the best cleaners.

IMO better than a magfloat, especially in our nano cubes, is the Nimble Nano Super magnet cleaner.

Is that the same idea, just a different brand name? I've never heard of it.
Do ya have a pic?

the rockwork is perfect! really open and lots of caves for the clown. and plenty of room for corals! love it man!

tank running for a week, and a clown in there already?? wow lol fast! or im reading wrong
your liverock, your great your a lil over 1.5 pounds of liverock per gallon like me, its great and it really works well. u can go 1pound but nah i like 1.5.. but also if your doing coral alot of coral come with livrock pieces so u might want to remove 5 pounds.
a mandarin to be honest is out the question your tank needs to be atlease 1 year old and for that size your mandarin would die quick, and if u buy pods for him he will be very expensive to keep
dan it looks real sweet man, but may i recommend not leaning LR on your glass its always good to have atlease 2inches of space between the glass and LR except the rear glass that u can lean all u want unless people r trying to have a walk around tank... reason being is u wont be able to clean ur glass then u will have coralline-algae growth after a while because u were never able to clean your glass...
i say this now so u wont have a headache trying to remove ur rock to clean and stir up stuff plus ull have more viewing area with clean glass and less headache.

Nope, you didn't read wrong, either that or I did, too - I said the same thing:

I'm real surprised these are the only two comments he's gotten about that, so far.

Yes I do already have a clown in the tank. A Buddy had a small 6 gal set up that he neglected but the clown stayed alive. Im talking no water changes for at least 6 months. He decided to take the tank down this past weekend and needed somewhere to put the fish. I told him I would take it. Otherwise I am guessing he would have been Flushed and by now swimming in the frozen waters of Lake Erie. So there is his story. From what I have observed he is fine he cruises around the tank eats when fed and is happy. I had planned on getting 2 Black Clowns but I am happy with the one I have. Thanks for the info on Mandarins. I assumed they were like a Goby. I had not yet read up on them. Thank you for your concerns.

I want to start adding coral to my tank. How long should I wait before I begin to add coral? Also I have hear that soft corals are about as much as I can do with the stock lighting system. Are there and SPS or LPS I can do with these lights?? The tank came with : "High output compact fluorescent lighting system featuring one 27W SunPaq Dual Daylight and one 27W SunPaq Dual Actinic compact fluorescent lamps, and Nocturnal Blue Lunar Lights to complete the 24-hour lighting cycle" if anyone has one of these tanks please let me know what kind of coral you have with the stock lighting. Thanks
