how long haas your tank been running ? if its a new tank , youre probably experiencing a diatom bloom which will eventually go away or you can buy a cleaning crew of snails . you should also put a phosphate remover in one of you media baskets .

Its Been Running For About A Year And A Half. Oh Another Thing I Had Snails And They Died -why Would That Happen If My Water Quality Is Fine? What Do Keep Your Salinity Level At?

Just b/c your water tests well does not mean that you don;t have an underlying water quality issue. You must have enough of something in the water for the algea to eat. You could be overfeeding, your filtration may not be adequate, you may be overstocked, your light bulbs could be old, etc. I have had algea problems in the past even when my water tested just fine.

Just because your nitrates read 0 you may still have some but the brown algea is eating it fast enough to keep it from showing up in your tests. I had the same problem. I put a phosphate remover in my filter and shut my lights off untill the stuff disapered. In my case it took 2 days. And you have to only leave your lights on for a few hours a day after you turn them back on and slowly increase the light schedual or the stuff comes right back. I also have a queen conch that loves the stuff. Hope this helps.

Try adding more flow, you my have some dead areas in your tank. You might also cut down the amount yo feed.

I had the same problem when I had a long tenticle anemone in the tank. When I took it out, the problem went away (after a cleaning). I have since put the LTA in a 10 gallon tank by itself. I get the same brown algae in it as well. I have to do a water change in the 10 gallon tank about every week or two to keep the algae gone.

How often do you chonge water, and how much water do you change at a time. I do 10% a week, this has been working for me.
