to compare these RACERS to a NASCAR racer is night and day... although most if not all NASCAR drivers got thier start from these races... the typical friday night/saturday night RACER has a carer other than racing, has to scrape together a few friends to help in the pits, usually uses the barter system for thier sponsers, has a passion for the true sport and is a genuine enthusiast, uses his/her garage for the race cars shop and makes alot of sacrifices to race and entertain the local population...
that being said... that is exactly my kind of racing too!!! my brother inlaw races what used to be called an IMCA now called a Grand American (at my home town track
http://www.meridianspeedway.com/divi...an_Modieds.htm... the owner of the tracks son used to race indy circut and qualified for 2 indy 500's!!!...here is another local hero
http://www.racing-reference.com/driver?id=tolsmra01 ...he is a close friend of the family, graduated with my sister (they were engaged at one point) and he now lives less than a mile from me) and I would never want any of these RACERS to crash!!! we have lost a couple of local RACERS here too and I know what you mean and can understand your frustation by a negligent statement such as I made...
but, these RACERS do not have highly trained professionals and engineers testing and putting to gether thier cars!!! a NASCAR car will not hit the track in a race until it has been through a battery of tests...unlike the weekend driver who often use the local school parking lot just to see if the car will fire... a NASCAR car is designed to take a crash and it is a draw of the sport...
thanks for the link I did enjoy the video, and I am sorry for your loss and the loss to your racing community...
