Dead Coral?

OK, so heres the deal. I went away for the weekend and realized when I came back my green star polyp and rhodactis coral just didn't look good. The green star polyp was closed up and the rhodactis was smaller than ever.
Checked all levels and they were good and then realized that I accidentally had left the timer on manual before leaving, meaning that the lights were left on since saturday 10:00 am until 9:00 PM tonight. They never went to the moonlight mode.
Are the corals going to die? Are they dead? Anything I should do? I have PC lighting if it is needed info. Thanks

they should be fine just a little over light tweaked ,check in the mornning and I bet they look alot better...

I left my lights on from 9am the midnight and my starbust was closed. They reopened this morning as usual. They are very good indicader corals. Any water changes and the close up.

Any way to find out if this coral is in fact dead? Should I be looking for any signs?

green star polyps are notorious about staying closed for long periods of time. where do you have them in relation to the light and what type of light do you have.

Thanks for your responce Michael, you always pull through for me. If you read my messages it explains exactly how I screwed up so it might give you a better understanding. I have PC's.

You can usually still tell when the green stars are alive - even when they are closed up – by observing the color and texture of the mat that the polyps extend from. It should be a healthy purple color. If it looses color or starts to crumble away, then you’ll know they’re in trouble.
Really, I’d be very surprised if a little extra lighting, especially with just PC’s would aversely affect this coral in the long run. They are very hardy. I once heard of someone who left GSP’s in a kalkwasser solution for 12 hours in a vain attempt to get rid of them!

First of all, YZ 125, got love the other hobby!

Secondly, yeah its still purple and seems to be in tact. It is completely closed up and hasn't opened since at least 4:00 PM Sunday. Let me find the watts of my lights and stuff. They are pretty strong for PC's I think.

A fellow motocrosser, huh? Awesome! I race pro in Colorado on a CRF450. Use to have a YZ80 when I was a kid.
Anyways, I’d bet on your green stars doing just fine. It is not uncommon for them to stay closed up for a week or more when they’re disturbed, but they are still extremely hardy.

Yeah as long as everything is good in the tank as far as levels I eouldnt worry about it. just watch the matt if it starts to flake off or start to look fuzzy thats when you might worry alittle bit. more than likely they will start to come back out in a few days though.
They are tuff little buggers. You dont have any angels in there though do you? They love GSP and will cause them to stay closed

They should be just fine. I accidently left my timer in manual for over 2 days once and all was well after a few days of a good light schedule.
Also, My star polyps were disturbed by one of my urchins a few weeks ago and it took a week and a half for them to open up again.
Your Star Polyps should be just fine...
