dead damsel

Wierd thing ,today I had a fish die right before my eyes.It was just swimming around when I last saw it.About half hour later it started swimming side ways, upside down etc. I let it stay for a while then the hermits started chowing so I removed it. It was a black and white striped damsel,one of the first fish I bought.Lived through the cycle and for almost a year. It was a beautiful fish. How do they just drop dead like that?

If it's a damsel - I'd say either it was old, was attacked or it ate something toxic in the tank.

hey I forgot, I put some seabuffer to raise the PH this morning. I dilluted it first though.Nothing else died,luckily. You think that was it? How long do damsels live ? thanks
