Dead Emerald Crab?

I found my Emerald Crab dead today and I don't know why. I decided to break down my fuge completely so I moved him to the display tank, yesterday. The only things in my display tank are 5 scarlet hermits, 1 domino damsel, 1 red lipped blenny, and a queen conch. I am not sure if any of those killed him. Water parameters are fine. The only thing I can think of is as soon as he was placed in, he immediately started eating these white things. I am not sure if they are aiptasia or if they are poisonous. They only grow on the shady side of the rocks. Any ideas would be very helpful.

I forgot about the molting thing. Does his shell come off in one full piece, or several pices? Becouse he looks whole.

I'm pretty sure they come off in one whole piece. A lot of times animals can molt their whole shells when they are being pursued by a predator to throw them off.
