Did you get it from the LFS? Already cured? Sometimes it can take weeks and months before you notice any new "stuff" on the live rock.

It may take a month or more for the LR to show signs of life and when it does happen, it will be very slow, like trying to watch a garden grow. LR needs time to cure when just put in the tank. This is when the rock will experience some die off of microorganisms while the tank is adjusting to your new tank. During this time you will get ammonia build up in the tank and so it is important to do a water change when the levels get too high.

this is a slow moving hobby, nothing ever happens overnight. give it some time and you will start seeing all types of cool stuff

Look in your tank at night with a flashlight you can see some new live. its so cool. wait until the lights have been off for a few hours.

haha we would but my dad wanted to be able to pick out ones we like instead of having to deal with what we could order. this is sorta my christmas/birthday presents for the next few years so he wants to make sure we get what i'll be happy with
plus it's extra time with my dad since he works almost constantly

Hey, just think, when you're older and have ungrateful kids you can tell them "When I was your age, you know what I got for my birthday? Rocks!!!"
