Dead Margarita Snail

I have 2 large margarita snails in my tank and one of them moved in way onto the sand and hasn't moved from the spot in a day or two. I picked him up and he was total enclosed in his shell i smelled him and he smells like frozen shrimp someone would fish with. is he dead???? How much off a increase in ammonia willl he put off if he is?

I don't know about margarita snails but i had soem turbo snails and one wasn't moving one day so i picked him up and smelled him and it was the worst smell i have ever smelled. I about puked. IMO i don't think it's dead cause if it was dead it would reak.

If he were dead, I'd think that other members of the cleanup crew would be feasting on him.

I'd watch him and see, but up to you. As for the smell, I've never sniffed a snail so I don't know what they smell like, alive or dead. Good luck, sorry I couldn't be of more help.
