Dead Mexican Turbo ?

I found my mexican turbo upside down this morning and righted him up on some rock. His operculum was closed over. I came home after a very long day and he was in the same place. Do mexican turbos take unusally long siestas by any chance ? And if not how many days do I give before I risk anmonia in the tank ?

Usually, if you start to see other critters hanging around him, or in the shell [such as brittlestars and bristleworms], then he is demised.

Yup....the stench will immediately say...."dead"...but they do sometimes sit still for extended periods.

HOW extended? I gave my last one the sniff test just before I tossed him in the trash. He did not smell as bad as the last one that died, but I did not want to wait until he reached that level. I hope I didn't kill him just cause he didn't move for 48 hours.

Had turbo do the same thing the other day the clean up crew had him empty by the time I got home just put a couple blue or red hermits whichever u prefer and if u have one die u dont have to worry about thing causing ammonia spikes they just fufill the circle of life

IME, turbos are pretty prone to this. They do a great job of cleaning, but astrias live alot longer.
