dead rock to Lve rock

So from my old 55G I had around 100 lb of LR, I traded most of it in for a smaller tank. After that tank caught on fire
anyway the LR after the fire was kept. Its been a couple of year the rock of course is bare and dry(left out of water) What are different ways of bringing back to life?? I have a 5 gallon bucket with 2 gallons of saltwater, 3 lbs of LS and a powerhead on some of the rock now. I rigged up a 32watt 6700K light to it. First would this bring any life to it, and with the other rock not in the bucket, would it be possible to take the rock and put it in my existing tanks sump for filteration purposes (instead of the bio balls) and have it come back to life????? I'm sure that it would but would it do anything to put off the tank?? any suggestions????? :help:

I put 15 lbs. of bare "base" rock (essentially the same thing you have now)
in my 25 with about 20 lbs of premium live back in july and it is just now starting to really look like live rock.
I think its really just a waiting game, use the lights and LR if you can.
