well if the snail hasnt moved for a few days...pick it out of the water and smell it...if it has that smell of rotting dead fish..than it is dead....id say probably the same for clams
I've had snails that didn't move for a week, then later they were up on the side of the aquarium moving around just fine. If you have any other critters in the tank? If you have some shrimp of crabs they would be pickin at it and eating it. If they aren't eating it i would say leave it be. If you don't have a cleanup crew then after two weeks of no movement i would take it out of the tank so that it doesn't degrade your water quality. Live snails will usually react to you touching the bottom of them too. So if they don't move back up into their shell after touching it, more than likely it is dead.
well this was just the clean up crew of about 40 snails, so no other critters yet. i will just wait about a week and see if any of the supposed dead ones start moving, if not, i will remove them. thanks
