Deadly Disease

Has anyone heard of "Asian ich"? lost all fish. They start out with a few spots, eyes become filmed and mucused, then their whole body. They start to breath rapidly and then they die. Totally, totally dumped the whole 125 gal. New sand, filter, pumps etc. Cycled the tank. Added feeders, and only a few fish at a time. Everything was going fine. My fish store got a delivery from somewhere tropical and she lost the whole shipment due to this stuff. Unfortunately I purchased one fish before hers started getting sick. And the cycle repeats itself again!!!!!!!!. I have lost all the scorpian family fish. If anyone has any info PLEASE HELP.

It sounds like oodinium (also known as velvet) hit your tank. Velvet is pretty lethal and acts quickly.
I am very sorry for your losses. I do hope this encourages you to set-up a quarantine tank in the future. A quarantine tank will allow you to prevent this from ever happening again. Again, I am sorry about everything that happened.

Yes! I should have set up a QT here at home. Where I purchase from has a QT system. Have been getting fish from this store for over five yrs. This is the first time I've had trouble. Thankfully my 125 Reef/fish tank is on a seperate system. I would have died if it became infected.

Can you provide more details of the systems. Were the spots like powder, or actually white dots, as in ich?
From what you describe, it just sounds like ich to me.

125 gal. tank. wet/dry filter, protein skimmer, uv light. salinity 1.023, ph 8.2, no traces of ammonia, nitrate/nitrite. simple ho lighting. reading all the threads it looks like brooklynella. the snowflake eel, star fish, sponge crab and hermits are fine. txed with antibiotics, and the maline no luck. once they started the rapid breathing they dropped like flies. Sandy now has the remaining fish: two butterfilies, a pufffer, and a morish idol in the QT/TX system at the store. I just don't know what else to do. YES nothing new until I set up a QT system of my own. GOD HELP ME.

Don't add any fish now for 2 mos. Obviously, like you say, QTing is the way to go.
With the white coating you describe and rapid breathing and quick death, it could marine velvet. You may want to alert your LFS, since this is a highly contagious disease and will kill fish rapidly. The treatment is copper or Marex. However, don't add meds to your display tank.
