Dang! I wish you lived near me. I told him i had all the filter stuff but I never asked about live sand or rock. I figure i was just going to have to purchase that on my own but if that's included that would be just great. Im pretty sure I to maintain it myself. Ity's actually a new LFS I found that's near me. Im going to check it out sometime this week. I'll let you know. This one guys called me and said 300 bucks. Screw that! I'll pick up a book and figure out how to do it myself before I pay that much!

Sorry you misunderstood, the $1.00 a gallon was for time only, materials are extra. It usually takes me about 4-6hrs to setup a tank that size.

oh ok. No I pretty much can do everything else. It's just that wet dry filtration system that's getting me. Setting of the rest is the fun part. oh! How do I transfer and when. can i use the water in my 55 to help cycle faster. Or do I just start all over with new water and cycling to new tank from scratch.

I would suggest starting new, you can do water changes with your old water and put it in the new tank but it will need to cycle still. After the tank has cycled then you can move in your other fish.

No the third pick is a cheap RO filter. I own one and bought it for like $40. My fish seem happy and healthy. Once a month i buy 15 gallons of the good RO/DI water so im not just using my piece of crap RO filter

Im jealous of you! what ever is in the second pic it looks like a serious skimmer. You got Metal halides it looks like. My cousin who got me into this hobby bought his friends tank for $100 (he went to jail). It came with a 75 gall tank, 25 gall sump, about 70 pounds of live rock, sand, all kinds of fish, a protein skimmer and coralife lights. You deff got the best deal ever though

Yeah but Im sooo confused but excited at the same time. So the cheap RO unit. can I use that to fill the tank? You think it's still good? I think Im going to try and put it together myself. With the help of of all you guys! Im going to clean it first. I took all the parts out last night. I need so pics of some wet dry set ups.

sorry but I guarantee that is a product called, "Tap Water Filter" it has a carbon filter and a DI filter, The filter media in it is color changing, But unless you see the unit when it is new it is hard to know what the color change is. THey usually do not last long.
unless you have a TDS meter and can test the water that comes out of that unit, I wouldn't use it.
You can pick up a nice RO/DI unit for around $100.00, a very very good investment.

Thanks Birdy!
I think Im really going to do that. 100 bucks is cheap and it will pay for itself over time. Right?

Really a job well done! Looks great! Goes to show what you can find out there and with a little work the end result is more than worth it!
