I am buying a used tank from a dealer in my area that was used as a wall divider in a home. It is 60x20"-24"x36to48"not sure exactly on width/height. It has a built in side tank for overflow, and filtration under cabinet w/skimmer. Also has two large power jets coming out overflow tank for circulation. It also has an artificial reef built on 1/3 of the tank. comes w/stand and hood but no lighting package. Tank is acrylic and in excellent shape. The store is asking $1,500 for the tank....does this sound like a good deal or should I bid them down?????

sounds good to me but try to big them down just to try and get a better deal or maybe get them to thrown in some lights or something.
Is the skimmer in good shape?
what kind of filtration? canister or wet/dry?
how many gph?

If I were you I woudl find out the exact dimensions of the tank, including gallons and all measurements. Find out what kind of equipment it all is (brands and models), that way we can better get a look at what you've got. But I'd say if all equipment seems legit and you can drop the money for it, and are ready to drop more cash for lights, go for it!

I appreciate the replies.... talked to the LFS today.
tank is 60"x20"x36" L/D/H 187 gallons appox
1 Wet Nuclear Canister Filter appox 3 gallon
1 Sump 20"x12"x18"
2 - Little Giant pumps model 4, unsure on gph but 3,000rpm
all equipment is in good condition, they will put 90 day warranty
Acrylic is in excellent condition.
Has tank built into side - overflow?? two large power heads come out of it into tank.
They are still working on lighting package, going to be a retrofit w/moonlighting. Will cost extra but I have cost budgeted. Mainly concerned about price of tank and equip...$1,500.
They are planning on delivering it this Sunday and start set up with live rock to start cycle process. I post a pic then. Any input before then would be great.

imo - thats a little too much.
perfecto just had a glass 220 gallon tank, pine stand, and standard lights for 900 on sale, that was a manufacturer's sale, so anyplace that carries perfecto can get that price.
After buying my all-glass 210 i almost had a stroke!

just saw the end of your post...sounds like that is a good deal unfortunatly I live in po-dunk USA, really do not have access to a large fish store or even a petsmart.. Looked on the internet for perfecto and I think I found what you are talking about but they do not ship.

You could do better going with GlassCages, if you can catch them in your area on a show or drop shipment.......The weight will kill you though......I think $1500.00 is alittle much for what your getting.......pump max $130, sump not worth much and the canister filter again.......Who is the manufacturer of the tank? If it's a tank by James at Envisions then suck it up, he does awesome work......
