guys, i'm thinkin' of writing a letter to the New Jersey senators, because, on my pay checks at work, i get taxed and am 15, which means i'm unabled to vote, i believe that since i am being taxed, i should get a voice. IF they don't think i should be abled to vote, then i shouldn't be taxed since i have no say in anything.

wow! i got more support than i'd tought, most of my friends said," no you should be 18 to vote"
then some brought up intelliect so i said, then you should have to have ifinished HS, then they said but they migh thave to drop out.. for their families
i like the say that you should have to havea job that you get taxed from.

Your idea has some merit. But I know 30 year olds that should not be allowed to vote because of intellect. I do believe if you are less than 18 years old you should not have to pay taxes. Not because you cannot vote but simply, at minimum wage, which is what most teens will make, is not enough as it is without having to give some of it to the government.
I too would like to see the response you get. Good Luck!

You'll get those taxes back when you file your tax return.

I do think it sucks that a low paying job gets taxed, if it is not low paying then I don't fell as bad.
One thing missing in this post is that your parents get deductions on their taxes for you, and they should vote for what is in your best interest.

That would open up some sweet tax loopholes. If people under 18 weren't taxed on income, I'd have a kid, name him an employee of my company, and pay him an outrageous salary.:D
And sit back smoking fat cigars until I got caught.

They're not if they make less than $6,000.

Sounds like I'm not the only one that itemizes..EH Bang?
I think that you should have to have spent at least two years in the military and have at least been employed for two consecutive years to vote/ or military and college.
I hadn't a clue at 18, nor at 20, but I had as much say as my dad at 50.
That's jus' not right.

Not to crack up the argument, but the people who live in Washington DC don't have a voting member of congress, and they pay taxes. That is true taxation without representation.

I think we should be voting on issues and not people. A test on the issues before voting would weed out the uninformed.

This nation's government was formed to protect personal rights and personal freedom, hence no taxation without representation. At times I think we should reimplement one of the original requirements for voting, property ownership. Those who own property are much less likely vote for those who are going to take it, whether via taxation, iminent domain seizure, restrictions, or by any other means. We have created a system where so many people subsidies from the government that they are not likely to remove from office those who allow them to get something for nothing, but that something has to come from somebody--property owners.
