Death. What I have learned.

I came home from work yesterday and my tank was filled with death. My livestock including my Porc all perished. Sad day. This experience taught me a few things that I take with me on my rebuilding phase.
In my experience, CC is not good for a beginner like myself. I cleaned my tank on sunday and with the shifting CC, my tank became a white cloud. I waite duntil it cleared up and placed my fish back in the tank. I was not aware that this was a biological boom, i thought i was just sand/cc sifting to the bottom. Talking with people on this site, and my loss of fish, If you are starting a new tank, use sand. CC traps all that bio crap, and it can be a killer.
Overfeeding is a serious offense. I loved watching my porc eat, so sometimes I overfed not thinking of the ramifications. Watch it.
So here I am. Starting over. Slowing down. And taking it step by step. Sometimes a beginner like myself jumps ahead of himself and gets into trouble.
RIP- nigel :(

I don't consider myself a vet, but this is good advice.... not just for the new hobbyist, but for everyone. :D
