deltec skimmer

I heard that these were one of the best skimmers available and I have seen amazing tanks that are running these skimmers as well. Does anyone know anything about them so I can gain a better understanding of what I should expect?

What sets them apart is their recirculating feature, which is being incorporated into newer product lines like Euro Reef and H n S and others. Do some price searching, they cost quite a pretty penny, and you can buy others that are comparable performance.

Just use your browser for deltecusa. It is a manufacturing site that is not sell-direct or a store but there are some store links there. Generally, I have always posted manufacturing sites myself as long as they didn't advertise other stores.

Thanks Tony and Beth; I greatly appreciate the information. Tony, you mentioned that there are other skimmers that are similar, but what companies make something like Deltec? I was looking at getting an AquaC EV 180, or another skimmer with the same abilities. Can you provide me some other choices in addition to a deltec, or an aquaC?
Thanks!

I was looking at their hangon skimmer and it is around $400! Anyone have this skimmer and can provide some feedback?

A $400 HO skimmer??? How about their $6200 skimmer! That must be a gem for large reefs!
I am thinking that I will not get a deltec due to the cost. I am wondering if anyone knows of any other types of high end skimmers that would work for a 180 gallon reef.

Other then the Bubble King the Deltecs seem to be the best skimmers out there. I have not seen one in use (yet) but there are gaining some ground here in So Cal.. The cost is killer, and the bubble king cost is even worse then that. I guess if I were to recommend a HOB skimmer is would have to be the Deltec, only because it cost so much:D

Cubuffs, H and S, Aerofoamer, Myreefcreations, precision marine, euro reef, aqua C, they're all very good. Some better than others, but all are good performers. Depends on what you're looking for. If you're going to run ozone and a calcium reactor, perhaps look at the Aqua C, they're very user friendly and have many options and are priced reasonably. Myreefcreations dot com uses beckett nozzles and are custom built if need be and produce a ton of bubbles as wel.

Thanks again Tony.
I think that I will probably get an AquaC, or an ASM skimmer. They seem to have almost the same technology as a deltec, but a third of the price. In addition, I do plan on doing ozone, and a calcium reactor as well. Thanks for the inquiries.

If you are going to do a heavy calcium demand reef and are just running the calcium reactor, you may want to consider running limewater into a dosing pump. My growth was doubled after that. I tried just running a reactor alone, without that much growth.
