I posted this question back in October and never got a reply on this. I brought back 30lbs of rock from key west, cured it for a month, and put it into my tank with no issues. My cleanup crew was all over the rock for the first few days, and now it looks awsome

Im pretty sure that would be illegal. Check the local laws in Florida. Usually any removal of marine life is illegal.

It is illegal in the state of florida to disturb or possess any rock growth with even mico marine growth on it.....period. It don't matter if its a chunk of old concrete or a brick, if its in the saltwater and has any marine growth its against the law to take it..... There is very few things Florida permits the harvesting of. YOU need a permit or saltwater liscense to legally remove any critters that are allowed to be harvested.

boy oh boy that would really stink to go to jail on vacation. the good thing about this though is that my brother in law there is a cop, heheeee, maybe he would do it for me . well it still wouldnt make it right i guess. oh well thought i would ask. very tempting though especially at night when no one was around!!! ehhheeeeeeeee

Even the dive boats are pretty fussy about what a diver brings back after a dive, and its not uncommn for them to check out a divers goodie bag.......The pan handle area of the Gulf is primarily a sand bottom, and any rock structures or outcrops are few and far between........yea, you may find a rock that was dumped overboard that has growth onit, but its not all that a common occurance. And the rock you do find is quite dense....You can often find somne unique stuff in and around the jetties etc, but its still against the law to remove it.
