I have had this Rotor-tiller for several years now without eaggrate. Bow front tank......
BUT......The issues with them are they DO tend to be jumpers ( no issues with mine) quiet home no kids anymore to startle him with noise. Also a nearly 50 gallon fuge feeding the little pod eater. I have seen where they are tide poll skippers. As long as they have food in this "little tide pool" I think they do not tend to try to leave the pool (jump out of your tank) But it your tank runs out of pods etc , carpet surfing 101 seems to be their next class in school.
The do eat just about anything in the substrate (pods included) leaving the substrate barren of seeable critters. Next, they will rearrange the landscaping of your substrate regularly!! If you have a "DSB" he will make mountains out of it in places. Other than these issues, they are just about unbeatable at keeping the substrate clean, but you pay the cost of living with these issues forever more. Plus they are a neat fish to watch work...... Hope you have better luck with the next one...
Here is a shot of mine doing what they do best making bits of sand fly! Good Luck.... Warren

Nice pic big...

Thanks, Here is a shot of doing his favorite thing to do. Waiting till I am not looking to bury a frag!
And a few other shots just to make someone want to go buy ome of these little buggers.... One shows his "Rotor-tiller" tines. The last shot is him doing what he does best, about to dig up a big mouthfull of my pods!

Yes, mine burried so many frags that I had to eventually move most all of the corals up onto the rocks, out of his line of fire.

Sorry again the your little guy jumped.... Yes they will eat just about anything and everything that fits in his mouth. But I have never seen him try to eat another fish. Mine at times has territory issues with my LMB but that is the worst of that issue.
One of the problems is your Pod population will decline rapidly having one UNLESS there is a continual supply of pods. My system can not keep up with his appetite even with having the large fuge and well over one-hundred pounds of live-rock.
Once I had put a whole "Algae tab" in the area of mine to feed a crab. The little guy swiped the tab and made his best attempt to swallow it whole. I was sure he was going to choke to death on it...... About one half an hour latter he finally swallowed it. It had started to dissolve....

all the sifting gobies, watchman and shrimp gobies, dartfish (fire fish), fairy wrasses, tilefish, jawfish and eels are VERY prone to jumping. I'm sure I left out many more.

I just looked back threw my shots, I got him in December of 06. He was a couple of inches then...... Maybe 3 at the most.
The little Rotor-rooter pig is a little between 5 and 6 inches now...
