diatom blooms

Hello, I'm having a bloom, not a very big one, but I was just wondering, do any of you guys ever put a snail in your overflow box to eat the diatoms in there? Or is there too much water flow in there

A lot of times, snails will actually migrate into overflow boxes on their own....if there is a way.
What is your phosphate reading and water type water are you using? Is the problem just on the glass or on the sand?

I buy my water from my lfs. They use r/o. The diatoms are actually only on my rocks and on my overflow box. There was just a tiny bit on my glass that I got with my magnet. My tank is only 3 weeks out of cycling, so that's probably the reason for the bloom.

Oh, forgot to ask...so should I just let the brown in the box go and see if one migrates in, or should I place one in there for a couple of days?

It's a normal new tank Diatom outbreak. Once the silicates in the water are used up it should pass. A good clean up crew in the tank will help. I wouldn't put snails in the overflow, but that's just my opinion. :D

I just added two marroon clownfish yesterday, is it okay to get 5 or so blue legged? Or should I wait a week or so and get them when I get my next fish. How many...5? 10?
