Diatom Filter

Does anyone still use a Vortex Diatom filter? I have one that was given to me but not sure if I should spend the time plumbing it up. Is this old school. Have a FO only 29 gallon tank.

its a good filter to polish your water, but i would not recommend running it all the time, espically in a reef tank.

Definitely not one to run full-time. I have a system 1 I use when I scrape algae off glass. Algae never has much choice but to be sucked right in......

I think the vortex can be run continously with out the diatom dirt but with liquid carbon that gets attached the micron filter but not to sure about it.

I have a Diatomagic Filter I used only for days I did water changes or added sand. Cleans the cloudiness up in no time!!! Used one in a 55 & 46. Used 2 in my 180g. Have it for sale for $50.00.

The Vortex rocks for polishing. It is super easy to use and works very well. It has no bells or whistles but will last a long time. the only down side is that it is a noisey sob.
