Yeah, cute now, but get an ugly brown when they get bigger. Can't you take it back now for a full refund?

Unfortunately, spotted sweetlips are very difficult to keep as it is, as most do not live longer than 6 to 8 months in captivity.
If you ever have a doubt and are not sure, check this list and make sure the fish is not on the list before you buy it.

Extremely difficult fish to keep. Your problem most likely won't be a problem for long. When I ran a LPS fish dept. we used to get them in because I loved the way they swam (like a big clownfish almost)... didn't take long to figure out that they are extremely sensitive fish and even the littlest things can set them on a downhill slide to death. Back then there wasn't much documentation on heartiness of fishes like there is now. Reading about them, it didn't surprise me at all that most everyone had the same experiences with this fish that I had.

i did the same thing 2 months ago. even posted the same thing, i alked to my lfs and they to bring it back after it starts to out grow my tank for store credit.. i thought it was a good idea, untill it died two days later.. if you plan on keeping it, hope things work out well for you....

I wouldn't shop at that lfs anymore if they didn't give you the info on that fish and then refused to take it back, that's not a good fish store, buy yourself a copy of Scott Micheals pocketguide to Marine Fish and carry it around at fish stores, I would also recommend asking them to hold the fish until you can do some more research on it.
