I guess I need to go read up on exactly what a skimmer does and how it does it. I figured I still had time to learn about the best types of skimmers since I wasn't going to get one until I got my bigger tank but if it would greatly reduce the chances of something like this happening again it might be worth it. But this is such a small tank - where would the skimmer go? Like I said - I need to see some to better understand. I have a skimmer on my outdoor ponds but apparently it's not the same thing. I don't think my outdoor skimmer does much for my water chemistry - it just keeps me from having to scoop leaves off the surface of the pond.
