Just got back from hardware store with my paints for my canopy...Just wanted to make sure I picked up the right stuff. The conditioner is for the pine obviously...then the black paint for the outside...and the white spraypaint for the inside...see pic below.

I don't see any problems with the paints you selected. The Krylon High-Temp will be a good paint for the inside, as it will not peel or crack due to the high temperature from the lights. Just make sure you give the canopy a good 2 or 3 days to dry before using it on your tank. Good luck. :)

Looks good to me too.
One more thing - if you can run the lights out in the garage or somewhere outdoors when the paint is dry - it will warm up the canopy and may drive off some of the fumes/smell.
Sort of break it in with some heat - but not directly over your tank for the first several hours.
Paranoid - maybe.
But it doesn't cost anything more, and only takes a few hours or so.

Broomer: thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll do it. My lights were shipped today, I should be getting them October 11th, hopefully I can have the canopy finished by then. I've got the first coat of paint on the outside. I'm going to post a picture of it shortly.
