Did I buy the wrong protien skimmer?

I bought this...
Motorized 75 Protein Skimmer (Aqua Clear Aquatics).
It came with no instructions, and I've never seen one before, so I'm not sure how it works.
It says in sump operation, does that mean It goes in the tank?
I'm so confused....

I have one of there Wet/ drys. good quality stuff. In sump operation meens it operates outside the tank in a sump. If you don't know what a sump is, you will need to look an explanation up on this website. i am not sure if there protien skimmers are any good or not though. i am sorry i could not be any more help

If you don't have a sump you'll have to get a hang-on-tank skimmer like the Aquarium Systems SeaClone or a Prizim.
Hope you can return that one! Or do some research and build yourself a sump

my tank is smallish, and I wasn't planning on any other tank (I assume we are talking about a refugium, or something like that.)
I'm gonna have to send this back, aren't I?

If it's an in sump skimmer, and you don't have a sump, then it seems so....sorry...

if you could return your skimmer get the aquac remora. its a hang on, works great and very easy to clean and install
