Did I catch what I think I caught?

If this is a Mantis, what do I do with it? And would this explain some dead hermits, snails, and peppermints... It's only 1-1.5 inches long/big.

I'm in middle tennessee, anyone want him? He's pretty fast and I remember seeing him about 3 months ago but he was tiny, about 1/4 the size...
Any idea if this is the terror behind my peppermints?
I don't have a fuge or sump yet - in process... can I put him in something small with fresh saltwater and a air pump?

i walked by the tank and saw something moving on the rock - usually not something i see during the day (other than hermits or snails).
So I grabed a pail, grabbed the rock he was on in the tank, jiggled it around in some saltwater - and out he popped!

Your lucky he didn't take your finger off. Yes, that is a mantis and yes it is most likely what has been killing everything. Brave man for sticking your hand in there to get it.
It also appears to be a peacock mantis which can fetch around 50 bucks sometimes. I personally would set up a little 6 gallon tank for it and keep it. It is an amazing animal. But if not you might be able to make some money with it.

Based on that shot, I'd agree.
And I'd also agree that you should set up a little tank for him! They are super fun and easy to keep:)!
What an awesome find!
You're shrimp have been disappearing? Your mantis is probably the culprit...!:D

Most people keep them in acrylic or plastic aquariums as opposed to glass. I think only one of the mantis's is capable of an equivlant .22 cal bullet in damage capabilities.

About a couple of weeks ago I saw something squirming in and out a a hole in one of my rocks and I saw it come out and hide somewhere else. But yesterday I a pic of a mantis and it's the same thing I saw. How did it get there and what will be the consequences. And how can I get it out.
