Friday night i did a water change for my tank and i had some brown algea or diatoms on my LR and my coral GSP so i took a soft brush and brushed it off (i brushed it off of the coral too) now the coral seems to take much longer to opend and its spottie?
Did i do a stupid thing and will the coral be ok?
Thanks

i have a 26 gal tank that has a canister filter that it bridged into 2 returns (rated at 264 gph) and then i have 2 mini jets rated at 100 gph each and then i have a aqua c remora skimmer. i would think that this is more then enough flow?

Next time blow it off with a turkey baster don't brush it. Corals don't like to be touched if you don't have to.

What kind of soft brush? Hopefully one that is aquarium safe or has no use other than for your aquarium.

it wasn't a toilet bowl brush...haha...what type of brush is ok for an aquarium? Is a small brush that sorta resembles the type of brush that hair dressers use to brush off all of the extra hair...??????????????????????? its a pretty soft brush????????????????

GSP can only be killed with nuclear weapons. Well, that may be an exageration. It will live, just give it time.
Get a turkey baster, it's better for that. If you end up with something the turkey baster can't take off then you might use a brush, I've done it and it didn't hurt anything.

A lot of brushes and scrub pads are treated with chemicals that WILL wipe out your tank. If they are not designed for an aquarium I would be cautious about using them.
