did I get a decent deal?

Hey all... one of my mom's friends is moving. Well, she had a tank that she kept tropical freshwater in, and decided she didn't want to bother with it anymore, so she's going to sell it.
What it is:
-44 or 46 or 40 something gallon tank (don't know exactly)
It's a corner tank, with a angled front (half a hex), not a curved front
-HOB filter (Proquatics)
-submersible heater (proquatics)
-stand w/ a small cabinet
-and a crappy little plastic cover which I'm not going to use anyway, that'll hold two 18" lights.
All this, plus a lot of freshwater stuff (gravel, test kits, plants, etc.) for $100. Plus, she works with my mom, so she's letting me do a payment plan thingie. (cause I'm hurting in the wallet due to my need for a new 20" tire. word of advice, don't lower anything on 20's)
I'm honestly not too excited about the fact that it has an angled front on it, but I don't think it'll look too bad if I set it up as a small reef tank. I'm planning on making a hood for it and retrofitting some PC's or VHO's (which would be better for a simple reef?).
Anyway... I've already bought it basically, and was wondering if you guys thought it was a decent deal, and also what would you do as far as stocking it? I'm going to do a DSB, and want to have two B&W clowns. Any ideas on anything else?
Thanks for any replies! :)

i think you did alright but you probably would of gotten an even better deal if you were keeping it as a freshwater tank. as is though, you got a decent sounding tank, a heater, and a stand for 100 bucks. is it in good shape? don't know if you can use that filter so that's why i didn't count it. as far as stocking it goes, i would focus first on getting everything you need to set it up for whatever it is you want to do with it, before you start adding livestock. (lights, liverock, sand, sump, filtration, etc) just my opinion. what do you want to do? fish only or corals? i get a little excited when it comes to all the possibilities associated with setting up a new tank :D good luck!

Sounds like my first tank, 44 pentagon corner. Cool little tank if you ask me. The hood is c$)p though! I built a new hood about two months after and but some PC's (96w) in... worked well until I upgraded to my new Oceanic 58 after the 44 got destroyed in a move :(
