Did I just do something dumb?

Okay, today I was taking a nap (I have bronchitis and have not been able to sleep well). The phone rang and I answered it (very groggy) and someone says "This is Chrystal from overnight services. We have a package for you that was returned undeliverable. Are you still at **** Ashwood Road"? When I answered yes, she asked if someone would be home today to accept this package. I said no b/c I am going to be taking my daughter to the orthopedic specialist in about an hour. I thought we were disconnected at this point but she must of hung up. I can't *69 her b/c it was a private call on the caller ID. I started to wake up and realized that duh, someone wouldn't be trying to deliver an overnight package on monday, and if it was legit she would of called back to set up a delivery time when we were "disconnected". It's not like I gave out my credit card # or anything, I just verified my address which anyone can find out anyway if they really want to. I have a bad feeling though. Has anyone ever had this happen?

maybe ask a neighbor to keep an eye peeled for you if someone won't be home. Or can you call the delivery service?
good luck with that bronchitis !! I coughed for a month! :scared: Finally broke down and called the Doc.

Yeah, I'm on antibiotics now. Last winter I got bronchitis and let it go and it turned into pneumonia.
I already asked my neighbor to watch my house while I'm gone. I can't call the "overnight service" b/c she didn't name a specific company, she just said she was calling from "overnight service" and there is no listing for that here. I don't know why I'm so anxious about this; at least we have a big dog that has a really mean bark when someone comes around the house!

Maybe call the cops. They may have gotten other complaints from people in your neighborhood about bogus calls.

I'm a moron!! I should NOT answer the phone when I'm asleep, but I'm always afraid it might be my kid's school. My husband is out of town too. Well at least I have the dog...

Yes. overnight can come on a Monday if sent on Saturday. I watch a lot of shows about this kind of thing. A real company would give the company name, "overnight services" sounds fishy, especially if not in the phone book. A legit company generally would not block caller I.D. or call from a private number. When you leave, lock all the doors and windows, including upstairs if any. Ask your neighbor if she will sign for a package then leave notes on both doors saying that. If anybody that looks like a delivery person comes and doesn't go to the neighbor immediately, the neighbor should call the police.
Watch "It Takes a Thief" on Discovery at 6:00. They've cleaned out houses full of Dobermans on busy streets in broad daylight in less than 10 minutes.

Yeah, and wouldn't they of scheduled a delivery time? They said the package had to be signed for. And that's another thing, she said it was "undeliverable", but no one has tried to deliver anything. I'm heading to the Doctor's now, I'm calling the cops when I get back.

They said it was "returned undeliverable" this means that you sent it and it was undeliverable so now it is being returned
