When i purchased my tank used i was givin this sump. THe only thing is is that it was only the sump. There was nothing in it. So i found this picture online and I got some egg crate, filter floss, a sponge, and a 12x12 piece of plexi glass. I 56 holes in the plexi glass about an inch apart from each other. so when the water goes into the middle chamber it should trickle down onto the live rock(im not going to use bio balls). I also cut the egg crate 12x12 and it fits just like the picture shows. So my question is....is this a wetdry filter again? This is going on a 90g tank and the sump is about 16g. Thanks for the help.

im going to put filter floss on top of the plexiglass and water will trickle down to the live rock. and im going to put a sponge at the bottom of the last baffle because water flows under it not over it like it does in the first chamber. do i make sense? will this work just like it should? this is a wetdry? is there anything i can do to make it more effective as it is going on an aggresive tank... thanks

I'm not good at DIY plans and studying pics so I can't really help ya out.
I'm concerned though when you say you're going to put a sponge at the bottom. Anytime you use a sponge you need to make sure you've got access to it so you can clean it.

it owuld be easy to access it. look at the picture in my very first post of this thread see the tiny square sponge all the way to the left and on the bottom? the baffle doesnt touch the bottom of the sump.
does anyone know if this whole thing would work?

I'm not sure that it will trickle like you want if the baffle that I circled doesnt come up beyond the trickle plate. It needs to hold the water back and force it to flow downward.

If you are not going to use bio balls then how is it going to be a wet/dry? LR doesn't need the trickel system.

so should i just take out the drilled plexi and just let it work like that. i didnt think bio balls make a wet dry a wet dry? can anyone clear this up as i want to have the tank running today

I would take out teh drilled plexi. In a wet dry filter teh bio-balls aren't meant to be submerged just kept wet so the aerobic bacteria can cultivate on them. But live rock you would want ot keep submerged so no reason to have it trickle.
