Did the cured sand trick!!!

Well I started my 3rd saltwater tank and I did what someone advised about using new sand. I put it in a container and added some water to cover and let sit with a little food for a couple of weeks. Last night I added it to my tank. I put a hob filter to it and in 3 hours it was clear!! Much better having that bacteria to hang on the particles. Just thought I would let someone know the results.

How did you get the water clear in 3 hours, what kind of hob filter did you use, I used the same method from kip and bang guy. I used a qt plastic container with a cover and a small hole and had a storm so thick I had to stop because I could not see where I was placing the sand. It took about 5 hours for the water to clear up alittle and 24 hrs to be back to normal. I really like the way it looks but what a mess it makes of the tank, any thoughts?

I just used a cheap Whisper 30-60 I had from another tank. As far as putting the sand in I just put the wet sand in the bottom and then added my salt water on top. One hell of a storm for a little while but I was amazed at how quick it cleared. This morning it looks crisper than my other tanks that have been set up for a while.

Thanks
If I dare try it again I will get a second filter running so I can get the rest of my sand into the tank.
