Did you rush it in the beggining?

Just wondering how many of you reefers rushed the process:eek: in the beginning. I did because of LFS's telling me "you are ready for this now" or " I can't believe you don't have this coral yet!". It wasn't until I started getting involved in this board, that I realized the inevitable downturn to my situation. Just thought this post could help some new reefers understand the importance of patience!!! Lack of has cost me lots of $$$ and, more important, some innocent sea creaures their lives.

I know I rushed things at first.
I had a saltwater aquarium book that was ancient.
Listened to a sales clerk at large petstore chain.
Did the UGF and CC and NO 40 watt light and Skilter 250 and cycled with damsels and used tapwater and didn't have very many test kits and and and and ...........
Until I found this board - I was hopeless and my 55 tank evolved into a packed nitrate producing overstocked overfed mess.
Didn't lose any fish at first - but did lose two bubbletip anemones and eventually lost a mandarin dragonette.
You can learn a little each day here - and you can learn even more each day with your own tank.

When i started out i was taking advice from the LFS guy and man did i waste a lot of money. I did not find out i was wasting money until i came to this board it has helped alot. The main thing i learned was to slow down now i have a reef tank that is working

I couldn't vote, my answer is I was very patient in some areas, like tank cycling but once that baby was ready I got really impatient! Made some stupid mistakes that didn't work work out, dwarf angel in a 2 month old tank and some stupid mistakes that did work out, bubble tip in a 3month old tank that split and is still doing great! EVEN ONE LOSS from impatience and/or stupidity is not worth the mental anquish!!!!

I rushed it and caused a 3 week amonia spike. Did 50% every three days and it still spiked like that. I won't rush it again!!!! :D

I could not have rushed in the beginning. Everything is so expensive. I would have had to sell my house to go that fast.

My first time (10 years ago) I rushed it. I bought a system from my buddy, fish and all, I killed them in a month. Hippo, powder blue, anneome all dead. I did trade in the lion before I killed him though.:)
This time I took my time, prolly to long.:D It is hard to resist temptation.:)
