Hi,
I have recently purchased an Anthias fish. He does not eat flaked food or pellets like the rest of my saltwater fish. I have been trying to supplement him with marine planton and frozen cyclops which it appears that he is eating. Is this going to be enough of a diet or will he eventually start eating other foods? Please any suggestions is appreciated.
thanks

What kind of anthias is it? It can be tough to get many species to eat in captivity, and they require a lot of food. Keep going with the cyclops, and try and add other foods once you know it is eating.

if he is eating something, the hard part is over. once they become accustomed to the foods you offer, and comfortable, they become rather gluttonous and will eat anything, and lots of it. sometimes even becoming bullys to get to the food first. try offering mysid shrimp or other frozen foods or homemade foods even, mixed with the cyclop to ween it.

Hope your feeding other things beside brine shrimp. Nutritionally it is about the same as feeding a person nothing but potato chips. They may taste good but they have no nutritional value.

Agreed. Brine is worthless, and flake is close to it as well.
Anthias feed on plankton in the water columm. Most species need to be fed multiple times throughout the day, or be in a tank with a productive refugium that pumps pods and other plankton into the water.
