Diffenrence between Kelvin and Lumens??

Hey guys,
What is the difference between a Kelvin rating on a MH bulb and the bulbs that are rated in lumens? Is it just a color thing? Is the coral stimulated by the Kelvins? :happyfish

The Kelvin rating of a bulb is a measure of the color light it emits. IIRC lumens is simply a measure of brightness...the two should then be completely independent of each other.
But then again, lighting is the one area of this hobby in which I feel the most clueless, so I might be smoking crack.
