Get rid of the damsels...I know you don't want to kill them, but you could trade/give them back to the LFS.
dwarf fuzzy lionfish
bristletail filefish
cockatoo waspfish (maybe a redfin wasp)
small scorpionfish, such as the cheekspot (Scorpaenodes littoralis) or a reef scorp (S. caribbaeus).
BTW, a 35 is too small for any tang or a mandy...

I wasn't suggesting that you kill your damsels, just to get rid of them (sell, give away, trade).

I'm not sure how you researched it, but a Cowfish will not be able to be kept for very long in a 35g. If you bought her at 1 inch, in about a year, she will outgrow the tank.
Also, be sure you run carbon in your tank. Cowfish can release toxins when stressed.

correct i am already looking to build a bigger tank , the 35 will get switched to a reef,
most of the toxins posts i have read say it could happen, but very rare. do you think this is accurate?

Well, if the tank is cycled, as the op said, it should be alright. Additional problems might be that Cowfish are big eaters. I reccommend feeding twice daily and adding algae sheets at least 2 times a week. This will be a large bioload for the tank. I would definitly reccommend weekly water changes, a good skimmer and stay on top of water parameters.
I got mine, cause it was sold to someone as their first fish ever in a newly cycled 75g. Evidently, they came home and did research and decided to get rid of it.
Basicall, I tore down my 125g and set up the 220g for her. lol
I admit that I kept her in a 20g long for 8 months. This was much longer than I intended, but I ran into some problems putting the 220g together.
I did twice weekly water changes. She was 1 inch when I got her and is now 4 inches plus the tail. Approx. 1 year.
I didn't mention it, as I thought my previous post, might be shocking enough for now.

Cool, I am not worried about the toxins in my tank, but I do run alot of carbon and provided a 300g system to maybe dilute potential toxins.(just in case)
The upside, is this fish has alot of personality. Mine eats out of my hand and sometimes spits water on me. lol
This is a very rewarding fish, if you are willing to provide for her needs.
