Digital camera advice

Does anyone have a camera that they would highly recommend for close ups of fish and also good for the family? Also since there isn't any film like in 1000 speed works good for moving objects,how does that work with digital. Thanks,Mike.

I have a Cannon Powershot A40 that does an OK job somtimes and a crapy job other times. You can see my Pics on my website (address below). As Slothy said, Ryebread will probably be your best resource, he has some of the best reef photography that I have seen! Good Luck!

if you're looking for a digital camera for action shots, you're really not going to find one, digital cameras arent made for them, they have lag from the time you push the button to the time the image is acually put onto the memory card, now i'm sure there are some digital cameras out there that are capable of taking nice action shots, but be prepared to pay for them...
best advice for action shots, 35mm single lens reflex

I have an Olympus 4000C and I love it. It cost $500 but can be bought at Best Buy or Circuit City so you don't have to worry about ordering it. It takes great shots as well. Here is a link to my webshots album with a bunch of pics that I have taken with it.

I have to vote for Nikon. I have a Nikon 995 and it is my third didgital camera and by far the best. What makes a camera great - the optics and there a no beter than Nikor lenses.
I really believe however, if you stay with the big three (Nikon, Olympus, and Cannon), you can't go far wrong.

I still think Konica is a great camera...
and lets not forget about fugi, they make some very nice cameras, i can't recall the model but they make one that can switch ISO from 100 all the way up to 1200 i believe...

only that i want one :D it is a 5 megapixel camera so you can make great 8X10 prints from it....
very very nice camera, but if you're gonna spend that much go for the Nikon D100 body, takes virtually all Nikor lenses, 6.1 effective megapixels i believe...

I just happen to like Nikons.

yeah, i'm partial to nikon myself...
as aggie mentioned www.dpreview.com is a great website with lots and lots of info....it does for the digital photography world what SWF.com does for marine aquaria
