Digital Camera recommendations (kind of off-topic)

Just wondering if anyone out there has any recommendations on a digital camera. I will be getting one for my bday coming up and am interested in one in the $200 to $350 range. I like the Sony's at Best Buy. Any one have these or could recommend a better one for the money? Also if they do a good job taking pictures of your tank, thats one of the main reasons i want to get one so i can show off what i am evolving, especially my refugium setup
thanks all

Being a veteran of the digital camera game, I wholeheartedly recommend the Olympus D510Z. Awesome camera, in your price range, beautiful pictures. Good luck!

wamp,
i thought about getting the combo, cant really ask to get something more expensive since it will be a gift so i think i'm just going to stick with the camera.
nywaters,
not sure on exact prices. i would give them a call since they might have to order it for you. depends on if they have one on the floor. i'm not sure how much they have in the back. But i do know their prices are WAY lower than any of my LFS.

Hello, I have purchased a Olympus D-360L 1.3 Megapixal,a couple of years ago. I paid 300. dollars for it at the time. Its a wonderful camera. Even more so now that its going for 180-200. Shop around. Remember this, "the more Megapixals, and different zoom options" the better the pic and more for the camera !

I have a Sony cybershot p-50. I like mine. The pics come out nice. Battery hog, will chew them up pretty quick. I took about 550 pics when I was at Disney in March. They all came out good, it was the right size to carry around. Only thing is, buy a BIG mem stick for it because it only come with a 4mb...I bought a 64mb ( about $55)

hey i have a nikon coolpix....i forget what model cause im at work and its not in fron of me, but anyways i will get back to you, it takes bitchin pics of the tank, especially on hi res and macro......unreal. also has a ton of setting depending on light conditions and 15 second mpeg video clips, awesome for snowboard jumps/rails, and whatever, i like it a lot.....good investment in my book

I got the Fuji Finepix 1400, great camera. Got it refurbished for $150. But read the reviews on cameras on ZDNET.com and Amazon.com. Read the customer reviews. ALSO, try CNET.com for reviews.
Fry's has 128MB cards for about $40 right now. Also, get the MetalHydride batteries. The NoMem run about $19 a pack of 4, last forever in a digital camera. Chargers are cheap. $10

We have a Sony DSC-75 3.3 megapixel, does good.
You just have to hold it real steady on the high
resolution pics.
Got it for $600 a year ago from off the web.

I'm happy with my Sony DSC-P50. Takes good pics and has lots of features. The optional infolithium battery and charger are basically a necessity and a bigger than supplied mem stick would also be a good idea.

I did alot of research before I bought my camera. I really think with all the advances in technology most cameras are pretty equal... BUT they are still cameras, digital or not and to me what really makes the differance is the optics. Nikon and Olympus are very well known for this... Olympus has been making optics used in the medical profession for years. I went with the Olympus (bought a C-2020). This was after doing side by side comparisons with a Nikon. Pictures are amazing and couldn't be more happy with it.

I did A LOT of research before buying my digital camera a few weeks ago. I ended up buying an Olympus C4040. Awesome camera! I believe the C700, would be closer to your price range and it has a 10x optical zoom(I'll have to check to see if my memory serves me!). Even better than the 4040. The 2040 is also a good camera. Out of the reviews I read, Olympus seemed to always get great ratings!
