dirty coral

I have a leather yellow toadstool which has turned brown from algae build up, I suppose. I'm thinking it occurred when my skimmer failed, and it was a week before I got it running properly again. Is there any way that I can clean the coral without killing it so it can regain its vibrant yellow color again? Thanks in advance.

Try holding it in front of the powerhead for a few. And give it a bit more flow. Where is it placed in ur tank and whats ur GPH?
And what kind of brown algea is it?

you can use a soft bristle toothbrush, just dont scrub at it, use single strokes in one direction NOT back and forth

Thank you. I tried the powerhead trick already and that did not work. Diatom algae, I believe. I'll try the toothbrush and see how that works. Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated!
