discolored anemone

i have a white anemone.. it has a reddish base. and tentacles. forgot the name
I also noticed my tank has very small amounts of brown algae..
now 3 weeks ago, my anemone when I got it was white as snow.. now it is brownish..
i feed it pellets few times a week...
why is the color brown? is it algae? :notsure:

It sounds like a long tentacle anemone. What kind of lights do you have? What is your nitrate level? How long has the tank been set-up?

One possibility is that it is more healthy now than it was when it was "sparkling" white. However, one would need to know the parameters, lighting type, species, the state or look of the anemone, and inhabitants (including other corals/anemones) of tank to get an accurate diagnosis.
Typically, I feed my anemones meaty foods and not pellets, and only feed about once per week. I have found some success doing this.
The brown algae is probably the beginnings of cyano bacteria or cyano "algae" due to over feeding (assuming you feed the other inhabitants as much as you feed the anemone).
Give more details and I'm sure someone will have you sorted out, no problem.

should i cut down feedin the anemone?
i have 4 fish i feed once a day..
i have a mixture of corals, nothing near the anemone..
