Diseased tank?

I went away for the holiday (3 days) and came back to work to find my blue damsel (only fish in 6 gallon tank) full of disease... you name it... parasites, tail rot, etc. Should I start from scratch with everything in the tank? Or would replacing the diseased fish alone be enough?

Sounds like the poor wee fella has been under alot of stress for some reason. Have you tested the water etc? Did anyone feed him for you whilst you were away?

The water tested perfect before I left. My local shop said no one would need to feed him if I had enough algae for him to eat... The temp is a little higher than I like... 82f

That temp sure is high. Well that's what my lfs said to me when mine was only 79 to 80. I was advised to keep it around 77 to 78, because the warmer the water the harder it is for the fish to breathe depending on your salinity.

couple of months... it was a 6g on my desk... Had to break it down. I will try it again after I fix the algae problem at home. thanks for the help.

I'd say that the temp probably got alot higher than the 82 degrees while you were gone. With that tiny amount of water and noone in the building to open a window or turn on the A/C, if it got hot in there then 6 gallons would heat up IN A HURRY! Time for a do over but you'll have the same problem in the future.

Don't think it was the temp...
the building is A/C 24-7
the only reason the tank warms up so much is because of the filter and light. the temp in the building is always 71f
