Divided tank

Hey gang,
First, thanks for the help with my sea apple problem. I pulled the plug on it this morning, after a valiant effort on his part....
but on to new question:
I am currently running two tanks. The 120g reef I mentioned before and a 55g FO, where I've got my lion, trigger and puffer. Those three fish are very entertaining (especially the puffer), however I am getting tired of maintaining two tanks. Not to mention that the 55g is in a low traffic room, and as such I feel gets "neglected", which is an injustice to such cool fish. So here's my idea that I want to bounce off of you fine folks.
What if I re-scaped my reef so that there was a rock "wall" maybe 50/50 in the tank. The corals and such would stay on one side, the other side would be the aggressive fish haven (a sort of barrier reef, with sand drop off effect. The wall would have numerous holes and channels between it so water could flow (and the smaller reef fish if they wanted to) but the large puffer and lion would not be able to cross over. It could be trouble if they pull a Gorbechev and tear down the wall but if done right perhaps this could work.
Open to your ideas/opinions on whether anyone has attempted such a thing or the merits/demerits of the idea.
Thanks

it sounds like a cool idea.. but how many fish do u have rite now in ur 120? it mite be a slight upgrade for the 55 but if there r a lot of fish in the 120 they mite not be to happy? But idk i hope someone can come along and help you out with this because i think it could go either way if planned rite.
much luck to u either way

What about using a divider, I think they are calling it eggcrate. Like you see in some LFS's? you could attach the LR to the eggcrate to hide it, and also be assured that the fish and the coral dont mingle.
Would let you get a good flow through the wall.
Just a thought

That's probably a good call. And I have some still around from when I setup the tank.
