Looking to save some money, not getting the overtime since starting a new job, yet.
But what does everyone use for DIY chemicals and what are there purpose.
Specifically, I am looking for magnesium, calcium, alk additives. I thought I had my problems under control switching to reef crystals and I had all my levels that I test for up, but I said I hadn't tested for a while so I decided to test tongiht and I need to bump things up just a hair.
Thanks

making your own should really be left to those that no offense, but to those that know what they are doing. Cheap as dirt, but overdose is very easy. Also some of the chemicals involved are very hazzardous to have around the home if you have small children. They sell supplements here on SWF.com and I dont want bite the hand that feeds me so I will wait for the ok before I post a link for DIY recipies.

Once you have alk calcium and PH where you want them they can most likely be maintained with a nightly kalk drip.
Go to health food type stores and look for MRS. Sages Pickling Lime. Same thing as more expensive LFS kalk powders. Google "kalkwasser" for more info.
