diy hexagon stand

Are you looking to build one yourself or just want to know where to find one premade?
If you are a DIY kind of guy then the next qeustion is do you have any cabinet making experience? I only ask because a hex stand is pretty challenging, lots of angles and mitered corners. This is fairly advanced stuff , if you have wood working skills it is not impossible but can be tricky and requires some descent tools to accomplish.

Well ryanhayes9,
first I have to say I am impressed you have the DIY spirit a lot of of guys your age don't seem to have these days. I'm glad you are looking at options for making a stand for your aquarium.

I have few concerns though with your cinder block idea. The first one is it might be a little too easy to knock over without some sort of way to hold it all together. Also remember you will have over 400 pounds in your tank not counting rock and sand. thats a lot of wieght to trust to a stack of concrete blocks. If someone bumped it hard enough you could end up with a real mess.
Can you think of any other way that you might could make a suitable stand? Think it over. If you need help I'm always happy to lend advice and help.
I spent 12 years as cabinet builder and still do it for fun every now and then for friends needing aquarium stands.

well.... i really dont want to buy one because i dont have 400 dollars. The tank was a free it sat in someones garage for 20 years! Is there something else i could use? do you have a rough guess on how much it would cost to have a cabinet maker make one for me?

Sorry, real life intruded.

You might consider garage sales, often folks are trying to get rid of old stuff that you could use.
A good cabinet maker would charge as much if not more than a premade stand would cost at the LFS. But just because the tank is odd shaped doesn't mean the stand has to be also. A rectangular stand would work if it is centered and balanced properly, a lot cheaper too.
Try to be patient (I know hard to do sometimes) if you can't find what you need right a way maybe you could save up your money until you can afford it.
Sorry my advice isn't better, but the options are a little slim for an odd shaped tank like this one.
