LFS had a tank sale and i picked up a non drilled 210g glass tank for $500. now when i built my 75g i drilled holes and put in bulk heads. another LFS near me built a 450g acrylic with a 3" x 5" square cut out of the top back with a overflow box glued to it.
what i am wondering is if i can do the same thing but with glass and silicone? they glued a mesh screen over the hole to keep the fish from getting sucked in and i could do that as well. i like it alot since its a cleaner look in the tank.
now i know that the glass would need to be cut straight so the surface would bond strong and not leak. i'm pretty handy with a glass cutter and would make it out of 3/8" glass. insted of running pipes from the box to the sump down below i was going to make a glass waterfall type of thing down the back of the tank. would this be a problem as well?
not worried about the noise since the tank will be built into the wall and the back of the tank will be in its own room.
