So i'll be startin up a 40G breeder reef here in the next month and wanted to do a DIY overflow into a DIY sump/fuge. I was planning on making the return pump 1200GPH (that's a 30x turn over).
So my question is how can I adjust the GPH of the overflow?
Thanks

You really don't want to adjust the drain. 2@1" pipes will give you approx 1200 gph. Then you have to match the pump (including head) to the OF. Thats is an awful lot of flow coming from the return and sump. Unless you going with a very large sump you will probably have issues with micro bubbles.
I would cut the flow down for the return and supplement flow with PH's or a closed loop.......
The flow you will be able to get froim the return will be effected by how big of a sump/fuge you will use.

If in case you do need to adjust your overflow GPH though, the best way to do it is to change the size of the utube thats siphoning.
