DIY skimmer

I'll be attempting to construct my first DIY skimmer soon, I have a few questions. I'm gonna model the skimmer after the euro reef skimmers. The skimmer will be on my 150g. What determines the tank size the skimmer can handle? What size pump should I use? I was thinking of using the rio 2500 with thisMOD .

I just want to see the finished product
I made one recently but your beginning design sounds much better than mine.
I think running air through the pump produces more bubbles than the after pump fitting.
