DIY Stank please help

What size material are you making this out of? I would glue & use screws instead of nails. Pre-drill for the screws.

I would glue and use screws as well instead of nails, because nails at times will back out....How big of a tank are we talking about? Make sure you support your stand very well, meaning not relying just on the screws to hold things together.....Remember to use cripple studs as well in your construction, and depending how big might want to lag as well

Absolutely glue... always. It makes the joint so much stronger that there's no excuse not to do it. It's just good practice when building any furniture anyhow.
I personally always glue mine using waterproof wood glue and use a combination of deck screws and carriage bolts to hold it together.
I have a lot of pictures of one of my stands on my web site (www.davestanks.com) which might give you some contruction hints. It's under "How To/DIY"

GOT 2 USE THE GLUE. IT WILL START TO SEPERATE OVER TIME. I MADE THAT MISTAKE ONCE. BELIEVE ME TAKE THE EXTRA TIME TO GLUE THOSE EDGES AND CORNERS.
